To Understand the meaning of an operating system,let us take an example:

When you go restaurant,you order the waiter to bring our favorite dish. The waiter tells the cooking section about your order.

Then he gets stuff according your order from the cooking section and serves your order to you. this waiter act as a middle man (interface) between you need to cooking section of the restaurant.

Similar the operating System is also a middleman or an interface between you and the computer.

you know that a set of program is called a software.

Windows,therefore, acts as a home manager by a organizing your programs,folder and files. windows is a Graphic User Interface (GUI) based operating system.

There are many versions of windows like: windows 3.1, windows 95, windows 98, windows 2000,Windows Millennium edition (WIN ME), Windows XP,Windows 7, Windows 8 And Windows 10.

Since Windows First Appeared,it has been update to keep pace with the new Technology.Windows 10 is the latest version of windows but windows XP and 7 are still widely used.
